I came into this program not really knowing what to expect but knowing that I want to grow as an educator and as an individual. "The Innovative Learning program was designed to immerse teachers and provide first hand knowledge for teachers in Project-Based Learning, 21st century workforce readiness skills through a blended learning environment that includes face-to-face virtual classes and a “flipped” teaching model." After spending eight years teaching in southern California and being part of a program that was partnered with Loyola Marymount University, I pushed my practice as a math teacher every year. When I moved back home to Napa I was excited to get a job at New Tech High, a wall to wall project based learning school site. I felt as if I was a brand new teacher. I agree with everything you said about our Cohort. It really is a great group of people that have been able to help out when we were lost or struggling. The study group reference is an important one too. I remember reading something about that during one of our many readings as well. I need to be mindful of that and work towards helping my kids develop those types of groups so that they can lean on their classmates more when they are stuck and could use some extra help. While a lot of what we have covered has been stressful and confusing this year, I'm glad to hear that it's been useful to you when it comes to your site and specifically PBL.

Matt, something stood out as I was reading your comment; the idea that you/we need to be more mindful about helping our kids develop study groups is so important. I think we as teachers often put kids in groups expecting that they know what to do as a team and how to collaborate. It is very important that we are intentional about scaffolding collaboration and what it looks like to be in a successful team. I appreciate your reminder of that.
